APN Settings for HTC One X (Starhub)

As mentioned in my earlier post, I just got a HTC One X from Starhub. Everything was good until I’d decided to do some tests on my own. I observed the following:

a. The battery management is a bit of disappointing. I only managed 3/4 day. It’s unimpressive considered the fact that this is still my secondary phone.

b. The facebook for Android.. is sucky. The loading is sucky & the uploading is horrendous. Social Network apps is NOT cool. Some other apps like goal.com is not loading well.

c. I am skeptical about the APN settings as the surfing experience is fine with the built-in browser, but for apps wise, it is tremendously slow. VERY SLOW.

So I googled and tried a few settings on my own and found one that actually helps! Decided to pen this down on my blog for references in case I need it again.

Forgotten your SabNZB server password?

a. Try going to your :”users/library/Applications Support/SabNZB”

b. Look for sabnzb.ini file. Open the file with your text app (if not, textedit or notepad).

c. Look for :

username = user

and change it into your desired username and password. You can find your password there too. For quick search, just press and hold down command + f.

Football Manager 2013 Quit Unexpectedly

FM quit unexpectedly

FM quit unexpectedly

Agony is the only word I can think of when I see this error message. This is one big problem I have when I install FM onto my MacBook Pro. The installation went fine, but the moment I tried to start FM, I am greeted by this message.

Matter of fact; it started since FM 2011.

Interesting fact; I tried FM on the same macbook pro via Parallels Desktop/Boot Camp, it worked like a charm.

More interesting fact; I used the same installation, it worked on my miserable macbook air 11″/13″.

I can continue.

So if you are facing the same problem like me. There is a way to work around this error.

a.Remove the Sports Interactive Folder in /users/YOURNAME/Library/Cache

b. Start your FM 2013.

*This method works for users who installed FM via STEAM.

Mount HTC One X as Disk Drive

As mentioned in my previous post, I could not mount my htc one x as disk drive after I update my phone to 4.1.1.

I tried many ways. And the annoying HTC sync manager always gets into my way. Honestly HTC, we android users do not need a sync manager to help us in our transfer of data.

For those of you who need this function, I will suggest you to download “Android File Transfer” from HERE.

It works well for me. I noticed that the transfer over USB is faster. For more information, you may find out from HERE.

Cheers!

HTC One X 4.1.1

The phone bugged me for system updates for a few good days.

I ignored it. I need my phone and I need it badly. Too many works with too little time. I have message flying in and out. I have emails I need to reply. And I need to reply fast.

As a System Engineer (previously), I am very skeptical of “System Update”. I still remember the day when Mac OS X 10.4.2 screwed up all the connection with McDonald (Singapore) free Wi-fi. Then the explanation is, 10.4.3> could not connect due to the old routers in all McDonald. It’s either they upgrade or we downgrade.

As if McDonald will collapse if you don’t use their FREE wi-fi. #Seriously #WTF?

Now. I tried. Out of my spare time in a meeting, I tried. 3++ MB, over the wi-fi. After the process, I was greeted with a different screen for keying my passcode. I can live with that.

What I cannot understand is, it just turned-off my 3G data connections without telling me. For a moment, I wondered why my phone was so quiet and the next thing I know, there is no 3G network. This is not cool.

Now, what boils my blood is. Where is the function to usb-mount my HTC to computer? Seriously, I don’t have all the bloody time in the work to go figure out this and that. So HTC can be sure that my bloody next phone, is not HTC ever again.

Pairing JAWBONE ICON

This, is not helping. Try telling me that my JAWBONE ICON cannot pair with my MacBook Pro. Simply don’t make sense to me.

So if you want to trying pairing the both, you will get an error message stating that something went wrong. Never mind. Try the following:

1. Click on the Bluetooth icon in the upper right of your screen and choose Open Bluetooth Preferences.

2. Highlight Jawbone Icon and then click the “-” button down below. **To delete the previous setting and pair it again.

3. Reboot your Mac. **May not be necessary.

4. Turn the Jawbone Icon on and not connected to your phone click the Talk button 7 times in rapid succession, clicking and holding the button on the seventh time. If it takes the bluetooth headset will be in pairing mode (flashing red & white back and forth).

5. Click on the Bluetooth icon at the top of the screen and choose Set Up Bluetooth Device and re-pair your Jawbone Icon.

This time, it should work.
