It is a event where Apple Premium Resellers sent in their best sales staff to demo about Mac OS and Digital Lifestyle. I was invited to be a guest judge for this event.

The main reason why I want my guys to join this event is purely for more exposure. The winning portion is not really a must. As long as they tried their best, I am happy. Even if they are not good, I should really take the blame as their Training Head.

Before I took over the Training Department, things are not enforced in a standardized manner. The trainer we had (For Apple Product Training) was simply not good enough himself, let alone the kind of half-past-six training he gave to my staff.

Imagine, someone who is training you Mac OS X. Instead of making you feel excited about the product, he was lazily siting on one side of his ass, shaking and jerking his other leg. He looked as if he is playing Counter-Strike more than he is teaching.

When I asked him for his training modules, he cannot give me anything. And this is the kind of asshole that had been training my staff for the past year. If I can, I would be happy to nail him to the cross.

Coming back to Apple Demo Artist Event, below is just two pictures:

We had sent 4 guys to demo Mac OS X, iPhoto, GarageBand and iMovie. I took another pic with Ludi, one of my best guy for iPhoto. He is also the assistant for my Store Supervisor in PIM2.

Overall, I hope my guys will understand what are the key selling points of Mac and how, a presenter should bring across a product in a clear, attractive and yet simple manner.

And after everything, we went to StarBuck to have a cup of coffee together. Should really consider applying a BCA credit card. Buy a cup of coffee and get one FREE in Starbuck. Credit Card promotion with F&B industries can be really crazy in Indonesia…

Finally, we proceeded to “Wendy” for Double Combo Burger Meal..

Finally, we opened our Infinite in Senayan City. Am proud to be part of this. Most importantly, my “iPod Girls” project is launched successfully.

There is a lots of hardwork involved in setting up a retail store, especially in Indonesia.

From location, arrangement with Malls management, accessories, renovation, staff training, credit card terminal and phone lines.. etc.

Though tired, but enjoyed every single moment doing it. The tiring part is not just the setting of the accessories, but also the setting of our demo machines.

Nevertheless, still managed to squeeze some time for fun..

Overall I am pleased with the setup and design. Will post more pictures of the “opening” tomorrow. The camera is with Eric.

I think VMware is a great product. Though my current Windows VM is still using Parallels, my Mac OS X Server is running VMware on my MBP.

Nevertheless, there seems to be some problem installing VMware Fusion. One of my Infinite staff emailed me (when I was in Singapore for my ICT) regarding a VMware installation problem:

“Hello William…
I need your help…
i Have a Customer who bought VMWare Fusion in my store, i help him to
installing VMWare,
but Faillure and in this window I seen words ” VMware cannot be installed
on this computer and then A system reboot is required before installing
VMware Fusion”
how i Must to do? to Solve them…”

Well, “A system reboot is required before installing..” is actually quite misleading. The actual problem is the reboot. But rather because of the time changed in your system.

Why would your time changed? There is a few reasons..

1. You need to hack a software installation (Ex: previous Boot Camp installer on Tiger). There is a expiration date in the installer and you changed your system time to fool the installation.

2. You are booting between Boot Camp Partition and your Mac. This will cause your time to change (on a Mac).

So all you need to do is to make some adjustment on the system time.

I remembered the first time I was here (Business trip). I was “invited” by a Apple Premium Reseller as a guest speaker for their Mac OS X Leopard Workshop.

It is right to say “invited”. But I don’t enjoy the experience at all. I will never want to work with THAT reseller ever again. I hate people interrupting my Seminar, especially when I am talking. The worst thing is, the Boss himself thought he knows a lot about Mac, and the truth is, he knows nothing about Mac. Every 3 mins, he will keep interrupting the class with telling me what to show to the audience.

Sigh.. ASSHOLE!

A year later, it is a different situation altogether. I am working with another company. I am going to Indocomtech happily, just to look at the latest IT toys. It was a Saturday, me and my training department goes off at 10am from the office and make our way to Indocomtech 2008.

Well, I am surprised that this time round we need to pay RP 5000 as entrance fee. I remembered that last event, it was free. And I am equally surpised that the quality of the SPG had dropped so much…

Basically, it is quite crowded.

It is not as crowded as what we have in Singapore Expo or Suntec City. Perhaps the economic crisis had an impact. I heard Sony sales was going strong. Good to hear that!

End of the day, the PC Show itself is not very interesting. The price is okay and there isn’t any awesome sales promotion going on. Really a waste..
