Leopard Server, Remote Desktop, InDesign CS3 & 10.5
Almost everyone I know in this Mac industry craved for 10.5 when Apple released this OS in 26th Oct 07. Me? Not really, I tested 10.5 quite sometime and I have a few problems with it:
1. 10.5 is ram-consuming
2. The OS lag and hang whenever I opened a raw picture or PDF
3. InDesign CS3 don’t work
4. Football Manager 2008 dun work
5. Jomic (Comic viewer)
Before we continue, let me assure you that my MacBook Black is running 2GB ram. So if you tell me that my mac will hang after opening some raw pictures or PDF file, it is absurd!
I can do with Jomic, found another software (Simple Comic) to replace it. Jomic have this rar version issues and they dun continue from there. However, what really pissed me are InDesign CS3 & my Football Manager 2008 dun work.
There are known issues surrounding Adobe Design Premium CS3 & 10.5, some claimed that Photoshop has a problem, the others pointed fingers at Illustrator CS3 and etc. For me, it is InDesign CS3! I depend this software to develop my courseware and everything is on hold. I’ve to wait & wait with no result from the Net community.
Lot’s of Cracks and work-around solutions were posted but nothing much for InDesign, and so, I finally decided to un-install my Indesign (/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers/). You have to do so via this method as there are InDesig’s components lying around your HDD, & if you installed via Design Premium, they are more complicated.
So after un-installation, download from Adobe website (30 days trial, 750MBs over). If you are sick of applying for accounts, try www.bugmenot.com and look for a ID!). After downloading, you may proceed with the final steps. I am not sure how you are going to handle this after 30 days trial.
Lastly, what really pissed me, w/o solution is my Football Manager 2008. Yes, I downloaded it and crack it using the “Blade”. But the whole image is based on 10.4, so when you upgraded your OS, the result is kinda clear. However, nothing seemed to work for me. I decided to delete the file and reinstall, download and install the patch to 8.0.1. Not that it stands a better chance to find a crack, but rather because I am seriously consider the possibilities of buying this game.
It is awesome, why not??
Had sometime yesterday so I decided to install Leopard Server on my Mac Mini. The result is awesome and Apple has make it very easy for anyone to perform a simple installation. I like it, especially on Wiki and Podcast Producer. Will spend some quality time and play with it.
I’d gotten the external IP, hooked up the entire server and control it remotely. Apple Remote Desktop is awesome for such tasks. But the problem is my server is not connected to the net via static IP. So if my landlord change or switch off the Ethernet Router & Modem, my Server IP will change again. So one moment, I can view my server back home from office, the next moment, everything is wrong.
<Viewing my server from Office, tune it to black & white so the view and loading will be faster>
Oh yes, the only application that I’ll run will be BT Cilent.
Thought of writing a Applescript and install on my server. So if the external IP changed, it will capture the IP addresses and email it to my office/personal email. Then I’ll changed my configuration from there. This, will be interesting enough to burn my entire weekend.
